You may have heard November and December called the “giving season.” As the year wraps up, it’s common for people to look back on everything they’ve achieved or gained over the last year, to feel thankful, and to want to do something to pay it forward. At ADA, we’re thankful for so much…our jobs, our customers, our co-workers, our families. And we’re so very thankful that we’re in the position to be able to help our communities by giving to a few organizations that are near and dear to our hearts.

Indy Honor Flight

At ADA we have so much respect and love for our veterans. Many of our team and family members are veterans, so we know first-hand the sacrifice and commitment these men and women have made to our country. This year, we sponsored a handful of golf outings in support of Indy Honor Flight, an organization dedicated to transporting Indiana’s veterans to Washington D.C.—for free—so they can see the memorials dedicated to honoring their service in the nation’s capital.

Johnson County Community Cats

In June, we gave some love to the furry critters in our community. According to PETA, there are over 60 million stray cats in the United States…which can lead to huge issues, not just for the cats, but for other local wildlife and for animal shelters, as well. For the whole month, ADA sponsored the spaying and neutering of feral cats through Johnson County Community Cats in an effort to help reduce the number of stray cats and manage some of the related hardships. And if you’re looking to add a furry friend to your home, JCCC also has several cats available for adoption!

Children’s TherAplay Foundation

The Children’s TherAplay Foundation does amazing work helping children with disabilities through the practice of hippotherapy—a practice that uses the movement and interaction with horses as a tool to accelerate physical, emotional, and behavioral development. Many of the children who use these programs have mobility issues or are confined to wheelchairs. This year, ADA donated the parts and labor for three swing doors to CTF, to make the facility’s entrances and openings more convenient for the children who use their programs.

Courageous Hearts Adoptions

As you may already know, Courageous Hearts Adoptions is very near and dear to our hearts. In fact, ADA’s owners are among the founders of the organization! In September, for the second year in a row, ADA sponsored Mallow Run Winery’s annual Wine at the Line run/walk, whose proceeds benefited Courageous Hearts. We had a fantastic time and were so honored to be a part of this special event.

In addition to Wine at the Line, we are also sponsoring one of Courageous Hearts’ birth families for the holiday season. Giving a child up for adoption is not an easy decision to make, and the health and well-being of birth families is a top priority for Courageous Hearts. The ADA team has been collecting food, money, gift cards, and personal items to donate to the family. We’re also providing them with a holiday meal and a few gifts to go under their tree. The goal is to give back, remove some financial stress, and make this time of year as special as possible.

This has been an incredible year for us, and we’re proud to work for a company who dedicates so much time and energy to giving back to our community. Here’s to many more giving seasons—or more accurately, giving years—to come!

Happy holidays from everyone at ADA, and all the best in 2024!
