Winter is coming—you know, in a few more months. But even though the temperature hasn’t dropped too low just yet, there’s never been a better time to start preparing your automatic doors for the cold and the snow with a tune-up.
New Season, New Tune-Up
‘But wait!’ you may be thinking. ‘I just had my doors checked this spring. Why should I get them checked again?’ Great question. We all know that Midwest winters are rough on our roads (and our souls), and they can be just as harsh to your automatic doors, with doors sticking and letting in the frosty air, tracks getting gunked up with mud and dead leaves, etc. That’s why we suggest getting your doors checked every fall, so that your doors are in tip-top condition before winter arrives.
As it turns out, there are lots of benefits to getting your doors tuned up this season:
- Safety & Endurance – Having properly working pressure sensors keeps your doors open when someone is walking through them, which is essential to the safety of your customers. Plus, regular maintenance makes sure that problems get caught before they happen, meaning your doors are always running smoothly and safely.
- Building Security – Your doors working as they should means they’re only opening for the people they should and are keeping access to your building secure.
- Savings – Yes, tune-ups cost a little bit of money, but compared to the amount of money it costs to repair major breakdowns, they’re worth it. Plus, regular maintenance actually extends the life of your doors, which saves you money in the long term.
- Compliance – Industry standards are set for a reason, and we follow them to the letter. That’s why our specialists are AAADM certified and will keep your doors up to code.
- Customer Experience – It’s all about keeping your customers happy, and having automatic doors that work smoothly and seamlessly both helps keep traffic flowing and also keeps the heat or A/C inside, making your customers more comfortable and giving them a positive experience overall.
What We’ll Do During Your Tune-Up
During your tune-up, our experienced, AAADM-certified technicians will give your doors a thorough check over. They’ll make sure all safety features, like your pressure sensors, are working properly, and that all your sensors are calibrated correctly so your customers can safely walk in and out of your buildings all winter long.
Our techs will also clean out your door tracks of any gunk or debris (especially important before the cold, wet winter conditions cause things to freeze and get stuck) and will look for any rubbing and listen for any strange sounds. At the end of our visit, you’ll have the peace of mind that your doors are tuned up to the latest industry standards and ready for whatever the cooler seasons send your way.
To stay ahead of the curve, sign up for our ProActive Maintenance Program, where you get two of our thorough inspections per year (in the spring and fall).
What You Can Do to Help
In addition to getting a fall tune-up, there are a few steps you can take on your own to help keep your doors working smoothly this winter.
- Keep your tracks clear of debris.
- Keep the area outside your doors clean (so debris doesn’t get in in the first place).
- Listen for grinding noises, and call us if you hear any.
- Keep an eye out for rubbing, like your door rubbing against the floor (then call us!).
- Keep heavy/hazardous items away from your doors to avoid damaging the glass or door frame.
While the winter can bring difficult conditions, that doesn’t mean your automatic doors have to suffer. Set yourself up for success with a tune-up this fall, and rest easy knowing that no matter what the cold weather throws your way, your doors can handle it.
